When I make a FamilyFirst choice, I try to keep in mind the fact that about a third of you are still doing the dial up thing. So I really try to be kind, bandwidth-wise, with my picks.
Unfortunately, today’s pick requires a fairly fat pipeline to function well. My apologies to the non-broadband crowd, and here’s hoping the service will make it to your area soon.
Today’s FamilyFirst pick is called EarthAlbum. It’s an amazing combination of Google Maps and Flickr photos. It allows you to literally tour the world from your chair.

The layout is a Google map of the world. When you click on a continent, Flickr images instantly appear that you can click on. As you zoom on into a nation, the images change depending on locale.
It has to be seen to be believed.
I spent an hour or more playing around and exploring the world. I NEVER spend that much time casual surfing! So if you’re used to meandering about the web for entertainment purposes, be prepared to be here a LONG time.
